The only thing I think of when I see "skydiving" and "Illinois" used in the same sentence.
movie note: The producers had to get the Ford Pinto certified by the FAA to perform that stunt.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/v...7#.UByXj2GhStwFalling at speeds of up to 220 mph, nearly 140 skydivers have shattered the vertical skydiving world record by flying heads-down in a massive snowflake formation in Illinois.
Three judges representing the international air sports federation certified that 138 skydivers successfully created the formation Friday during a skydiving festival in Ottawa, about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.

I am waiting for the horizontal skydiving championships to kick off.
What about that whole terminal velocity thing, thought 125mph was max?Falling at speeds of up to 220 mph
Terminal velocity is dependant on a number of factors. Mass and surface being most significant, another factor would be attitude relative to the direction of fall.
Genarally you would accelerate untill reaching a point where you start slowing down again as air density increases. For a 80kg skydiver this would still mean about 200km/h before coming to a sudden stop.![]()
That's pretty crazy........My jump experience is quite limited compared to those folks.....I'd be scared to death of the heavy traffic.
Jump wise, the 30th Leapfest is kicking off and a Kiwi team is competing for the first time:
