    How do you say 'foul ball' in Turkish? The White House was blindsided by a controversy caused by an Oval Office photo of Barack Obama holding a baseball bat while speaking on the phone with the Turkish prime minister.

    While baseball bats are popular around the world, the US (ok and Cuba and Japan) is the only country in which this wooden instrument is used for recreational means.

    Or to put it differently: A lot of baseball bats are sold around the world, but the number of baseball bats used to hit balls not attached to any owner before the hit is in the lower single digits...
