Police say they believe at least seven people, including a gunman, have died in
a shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek in the US state of Wisconsin.

    ............

Parminder Kaleka, who was waiting outside the temple, told the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel that she had phoned her brother-in-law - who she said was the priest of the temple - who was inside "at that time [the] shooting happened".

"He told me 25 or more people got shot, at that time they don't even know if they are dead or alive, so a lot of people got injured."
She said she had heard her brother-in-law had also been shot, and said desperate families were gathered outside the temple waiting for news.

How does this event fall under, "Current and general topics that are military related."

Wouldn't you say it fits better in this section:

"Post all non military-related political discussions and current events here, along with any crazy rants you can't hold in anymore."

Couldn't have come at a worse time. RIP to the dead.

I know it's offtopic, but on this on top of the incident in Aurora... I already hear the anti-gun calls screaming.

    Any idea who perpetrators are?
Sadly, these things always seem to come in waves, in America in the past, in China etc.
I hope this can be resolved without further bloodshed, particularly parishioners and LEOs.

Re: Political vs Military subject: Given that the Sikhs are/have been targets for Islamist terrorists, and mostly are Indian Punjabis, the event has international terrorist overtones – thus military related - at least until proven differently, wouldn’t you say?

Folks cannot even commune in peace.

A brief description of the shooter according to the Telegraph:
According to information broadcast over police radio, a witness to the shooting told law enforcement the shooter was a white male, bald, with a heavy build. He was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt, according to Oak Creek Patch. He was last seen with two handguns.
Ven Boba Ri, a member of the temple's committee, said the man started shooting after he walked up to a priest who was standing outside, and shot him. Then he went inside and started shooting.
