At least 11 Egyptian soldiers were killed after a car bomb went off at military zone located at the borders with Gaza on Sunday, near the city of Rafah, according to Ahram Online Arabic portal.
The number of injured has not been determined yet.
Investigations by authorities into the attack have been immediately opened as no group has claimed responsibility yet.
However, the Egyptian state TV claimed that elements of the Islamist Jihad group had carried out the attack by Iftar (breakfast in Ramadan), but provided no details.

Ynet Hebrew Edition says the terrorists were disguised in Egyptian army uniforms. They surprised and murdered the soldiers while they were breaking their Ramadan feast.

This, and I will add that any attempt to derail Egypt's efforts to form a representative government fail miserably.

RIP to the soldiers and rest in pieces to these terrorists.

Out of curiosity if its indeed the Islamic Jihad what motivation do they have to attack the Egyptians and potentially alienate the Egyptians that are now ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood?

Hollis, this attack seems to be a developpment of events that started earler today with this thread: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...rorist-in-Gaza

Is there a way to merge the two, while keeping the title of this one as the murder of the Egyptian soldiers is the major event up to now?

Who said it was Islamic Jihad?

If it was Islamic Jihad, just a wild guess... Islamic Jihad is controlled by Iran. Morsi offended Iran by refusing to render to Teheran for the Non-aligned states meeting.

It is suspected that the global Jihad is behind this, not the Islamic Jihad. global Juhad means the local Al Qaeda sympathisers and if this really was them behind it, it shows that they have significantly upgraded their capabilities.

I read about it in Walla, its only in Hebrew for the moment, now that I am re-reading it its actually saying "Global Jihad" according to Egyptian TV reporting, ops..I must have misread it.

It seems the IDF killed the terrorists who entered Israel after murdering the Egyptian soldiers: http://www.timesofisrael.com/gunmen-...n-gaza-border/

It seems that 4 terrorist bodies were recovered on the Israeli side of the border and 3 in the Egyptian one.
