I would imagine that driving a 4x4 wheeled APC such as the Fahd would be similar to driving a small truck.

I imagine that not rolling it over, braking on time, etc, would take some training though for something that tall and heavy. Probably explains why the third APC never made it out of Egypt.

Off road that would probably be the case.

Was there in fact a third APC?

Egyptian sources mentioned a third APC yesterday night. I ignore if this was confirmed.

Debka reported that a third APC was stolen and is still missing somewhere in the Sinai... but that's Debka so I take it with a pinch of salt, if at all.

Egypt closed off Gaza crossing and is bombing Rafah tunnels. Maybe they've finally learned the lesson of what they need to do to restore order in Sinai, and also the lack of global outrage over this is as amusing as always.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said on its website that the attack on a police station in Sinai on Sunday in which 16 Egyptian policemen were killed "can be attributed to Mossad" and was an attempt to thwart Islamist President Mohamed Morsi.

The statement said Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, was trying to abort the Egyptian uprising that toppled president Hosni Mubarak last year and that it was "imperative to review clauses" of the agreement between Egypt and Israel. (*******)

The reactions in Egypt seems mixed with some self criticism over the army's unpreparedness despite Israel warnings and the classical blame the Jews. Palestinian passengers that arrive to Cairo airport are deported to where they came from: http://www.timesofisrael.com/egyptia...border-attack/

A GOC Southern Command inquest into the events of Sunday night derived that the IDF had intelligence indicating an imminent threat of terror from the sector, including a Shin Bet alert suggesting that Sinai terror groups were planning a combined attack against Israeli and Egyptian forces.
The Southern Command ordered its Armored, Engineering and Infantry troops on high alert, bolstered by Air Force deployment in the area.

The forces were alerted to a possible breach of the border minutes before the terrorist vehicle crossed the fence, following intelligence indicating that an Egyptian border patrol post had been surrounded.

The information suggested that dozens of gunmen were storming the post and that an armored vehicle had been seized.

The vehicle in question is one IDF forces are used to seeing as part of the Egyptians' regular border patrols. On Sunday night, it was paving the way for a truck loaded with half a ton of explosives.

Both vehicles were making their way to Gate 380 – an inactive border crossing close to the wall surrounding the Kerem Shalom crossing.

According to the sequence of events, the armored vehicle barged through the first set of concrete barricades but the truck was unable to do so. At this point, apparently disoriented, the terrorists veered towards the route parallel to Highway 10 in southern Israel, instead of heading east, to the nearby Israeli communities.

According to the IDF, troops scrambled to the area engaged the terrorists, but armored vehicles are meant to withstand such fire. The terrorists then veered towards Route 232, the Gaza vicinity area's main highway. Some 50 meters on another IDF force engaged the terrorists, this time with machine guns, but the vehicle carried on.

At this point the truck bomb exploded near an abandoned military pillbox adjacent to the Kerem Shalom crossing, while the terrorist vehicle forged on through more IDF fire.

Next, the IAF scrambled aircraft to the area, while the GOC Southern Command mobilized a tank near kibbutz Sufa, to block any further advancement. Several tanks were mobilized as well to circle the vehicle from the rear, creating a vise.

As the troops closed in on the vehicle, two of the terrorists opened fire at their surrounding, but luckily no injuries were reported.

IDF tank fire followed, setting the vehicle ablaze. Two of the eight terrorists in the armored vehicle were killed by Paratroopers' fire.

Simultaneously, IDF forces were deployed along various routes in the area, to ward off any potential terrorist infiltration of the Israeli communities.

The IDF added that the terrorists were found to be in possession of explosive vests.

GOC Southern Command engineers have begun mending the breached area of the fence and should be finished in the next few days.

All the terrorists involved in an attempted attack on Israel Sunday night wore explosive belts, and the truck they used to ram the Kerem Shalom crossing was laden with 500 kg of explosives, the IDF stated Monday night.

The attack along the southern border on Sunday night, which killed around a dozen Egyptian soldiers, could be a turning point for Cairo in its fight over the future of Sinai.

Israel has been warning for years now that terrorists from global jihad groups based throughout the Middle East, alongside Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, are using Sinai as a launch pad for attacks into Israel.

This, IDF officers claim, has increased considerably since the downfall of Hosni Mubarak last year.

Until now, likely because the attacks were aimed only against Israel, the Egyptians have done hardly anything about this. Now, that might begin to change.

It will be interesting if Shelata tells us how Egyptians feel about what happened. The border issue is a topic that interests him as he opened a thread about IDF shooting at infiltrators two weeks ago.

The sad thing is, there are many left and right wing retards in Europe who will also believe exactly that.
