This is like a rapist asking his victim to tweet about his sexual prowess.

If someone is a dem voter, has a business and feels like obama policies are helping the business, why should this be a problem? It's a request by his PR team, if people respond, they'll do so voluntarily.

How is it an invasion of privacy in any, way, shape, or form? He's asking people to voluntary share good news stories about his policies. It's no different to a photo op in the shop of a local businessman who happens to support him.

I had two news stories mixed up in my head, and responded to the wrong one. I have edited my post above. Sorry for the confusion.

No 'problem'; just a really, really dumb move on their part. I suspect most of the responses are not going to be the ones Obama's PR team wanted to hear.

Hey you, according to my App, you like Romney well who the **** do you think you are fascist mother****er. I hope your kids are safe... that the type of **** you have to worry about. at least if before if you wanted such details you had to go to the Board of Elections and apply for the info and were asked why you needed such info.

Whats next? Obama for America Ballot readers apps so one can out voters as they cast their votes for the GOP in the polling stations?

Theres no reason any party needs to have this crap and Mark my words there will be vandalism done to those not on the list.
I made precisely the same mistake. I got the 'iPhone app tells you if your neighbors are registered Dems' and 'Obama asks business owners to tweet about how he helped them' stories mixed up.

Of course, but as Icon said, this could go hilariously wrong.

True, but they can just ignore those. I presume they'll filter all the replies and just display the ones that suit them. Plus it'll give him a few nice soundbites to use in the debates, even if the majority aren't all that supportive.

The funny responses will go viral, and the Obama campaign will not be able to suppress them. They will become the story instead of the intended narrative.
