So it's like Grindr for lefties?
So it's like Grindr for lefties?
So now they now which neighbors they can vandalize, or shun, report....
Why should I have the right to know my Neighbors political affiliation if he/she hasnt broadcast it with a sign or bumper sticker? ever hear privacy? I dont know nor care the affiliations to party of any of MY Neighbors, though I could guess the nation reader with the **** Bush Bumper sticker isnt a GOP voter. Hey you, according to my App, you like Romney well who the **** do you think you are fascist mother****er. I hope your kids are safe... that the type of **** you have to worry about. at least if before if you wanted such details you had to go to the Board of Elections and apply for the info and were asked why you needed such info.
Whats next? Obama for America Ballot readers apps so one can out voters as they cast their votes for the GOP in the polling stations?
Theres no reason any party needs to have this crap and Mark my words there will be vandalism done to those not on the list.
Does it use a list of ALL registered Democrats? Or just those that have the app/have signed up to the service?
It lists *all* households where the address is listed as the residence of a registered Democratic voter. I assume this information is from voter rolls, and I believe that is public info. Correlating it in this particular way is kinda creepy, and IMO, and invasion of privacy. Also, it is not very accurate, as would be the case with my parents, one of whom is a Repub and the other a Dem. Their address will be listed as a Dem household by the app.
But there is an upside to this. When people see their political affiliations are mapped out for all to see, there will be a backlash that may well lead to making this info private.
All whether they know about being listed on the app or not. You have to opt out to be taken off the list.
And again it isnt very easy to get voter rolls unless one can show a need. I cant just walk into my county Board of Elections and walk out with lists of Dems and Reps. It doesnt work that way.
Really? Our's is pretty simple. You pay the fee and get a copy. All voters appear on it unless they've opted out. That said ours doesn't list party affiliation.
For example

Ain't no way this could be corrupted and abused. Not a chance.
I dont get this.
What is a registered democratic voter? Someone who has voted for the democratic presidential candidate at the last election? I mean voting is surely secret in the US too, isnt it?
Or do you have the option to register somewhere your political affiliation?
In the USA when you register to vote you have the option of affiliating with a political party or not. If you register as (for example) a Democrat he/she can also vote in the Democratic primary. If registered as a Republican or Independent, etc. typically you dont get to vote in another partys primary elections. There are also some states which allow open primaries where anyone can vote foe a partys candidate in the general election (that can and has been abused by both major parties).
In most states you must register your party affiliation or register as an independent. That is because most states have 'closed primaries', which means that during the primaries you will get a ballot containing only the candidates for your party. In the few states that have 'open primaries', you can vote for the candidates of any party in primary elections.
