A very impressive display of power by the USSR. They destroyed a large army in less than two weeks. Similar to Desert Storm for the exception of the terrain.

What was left were barely trained raw troops, some of which even lacked weapons, and had hardly any mobility while fighting on open ground with little cover.

However it was also a good lesson about operative actions and combined arm maneuvers, something that the japanese never managed to acquire specialy in regard to the tempo operations imposed by European front armored/mechanized style of fighting
