My wife just ordered the Galaxy tab 2 10.1 without consulting with me about her choice!

    Raah

At least she didn't order I Pad

but I wish she waited a bit and told me so I could compare it with Asus Transformer, or Nexus 7 or Galaxy Note 10.1 or even Kindle Fire 2

Should I send it back or is Galaxy tab 2 10.1 ok for the money?
    She ordered this http://www.amazon.fr/Samsung-GT-P511...4433290&sr=1-1

I'm waiting for the successor with WP8 and an S4 processor. Shouldn't be long, a month or two maybe.

What? When I saw the SGSI I thought it was an iPhone. Even when I saw it in person with the screen turned off I still thought it was an iPhone. Anyone who seriously argues that the SGS I isn't a copy of the iPhone is simply the biggest delusional self-deceiving fanboy douche.

I'd send it back. Doesn't cost you a dime with amazon and it gives you the opportunity to compare, otherwise you're just stuck with it. Even if it turns out that that is the best one, you at least weren't stuck with it.

Huh? The iPhone 4s weighs 140g, the Galaxy S3 133g.

I think my sarcasm meter is broken. At least I hope so...

Anyway, more on Apple's idiocy, one of the slides used by them in court to justify trade dress infringement

Aha, a delusional self-deceiving fanboy. I feel sorry for you...

    Anyway...

They (samsung) even copied the symbol from Siri for their own Siri-copy

And I don't like either company. But what is, is. You can't deny reality to yourself, just because you don't like it. That would make you go crazy, which seems to be the case with most Android/Samsung fanboys. Delusional.

Here's what the Samsung Galaxy Voice Recorder and Voice Dialer symbols looked like before Siri:

Meh, Apple is turning into a pile of bovine dejection...

    BTW, I still have the iPhone 3G. 3G ! Not 3Gs ! Pre-historical !

Er... they still look like that. The only one with a microphone icon is voice search.

Maybe Shure should sue both of them for using their likeness.

That icon predates Siri for quite a margin, but nice try.

By the way, I'm no fanboy since I don't own any Android device and my phone is a Nokia. So keep your trolling attempts to yourself.

That’s correct. But the example you cite dates from 2009, while OS X has been using that icon in the Sound Panel at least since 2001. Look, I even found a screenshot from the old Aqua interface for you:

Yeah, right. Your knowledge of Apple products does seem to lack some depth, however. :-)

All based on the classic design of the RCA Type 77-DX microphone, which Apple has nothing to do with. Not to mention, for an entirely different application than that of Siri or Android.

By the way, if you are feeling lucky and knowledgeable, feel free to participate:

Right, but since there are a lot of other microphones out there that they could have used as an icon/metaphor, why did Samsung choose the one Apple used? Why not, for instance, a Shure 55, which is equally, ahem, iconic?

Perhaps because at least Mac users would immediately recognize it as something for sound input? Or because they had already used it in iOS for their Voice Memo app and that would be familiar for iOS users?

I currently own an SII, previously had a 4GS. There is no way to confuse the two. The look and feel of the icons etc is very different (crappier in the case of the Samsung in my opinion). If this design woman got confused by the two, it's because she is an idiot savant...

Exactly. That is the point. But Samsung/Android fanboys are too busy trying to rationalize it to be able to understand what the reality is. That it is simply a copy, nothing else.

Exactly. Apple has used that icon in their computer software to depict microphone input, and they are using the same icon for their phone software. There's nothing wrong with that, a company uses its own symbols across different own products. They have used other OSX symbols on iOS as well. And it's only logical, it would be unlogical if they did something else. Just like Microsoft used their Desktop Windows symbols in the old Windows Mobile. Or like Sony-Ericsson used Sony-Walkman symbols in their phones and maybe even laptops if they had pre-installed software that they bundled with their laptops. But all that is different from one company just taking the symbol another company uses.

Do you really think that is true for a person who’s not tech savvy, e.g. like your auntie? These people buy phones, too.
