Well its the truth is it not? If tax payers are paying for it, than is should be fully open to the public and the potential scrutiny that comes with it. Canada is a fairly transparent place but considering what the Conservatives say and do are very different things sadly. There is sadly a lot of truth behind what often said as "ideological decision making" from all Canadian parties with the Conservatives leading the pack by far.
This is way off topic so I apologize. As for the OT, I think the US should be upset and action should be taken as that's a big mishap in my opinion.
I know guys who have been on the Mirror Image program, they said it was a blast. Very immersive, very instructive and whole lot of fun. The drive-by shootings particularly.
Military troops trained by a bunch of mercs?
Really?
Obviously you dont know sh!t. They have top notch instructors and a amazing training facility that cant be had in Canada.
What the issue is that even though the CF and police units train there. ITAR still applies, which appears that it was not followed in this case.
Yes lets not give our troops and police proper training. What a bunch of morons the NDP are.Since 2008, the Harper government has had an untendered contract with the firm, though the company has been paid millions since 2006 to provide training for specialized Canadian troops and select police officers.
Now, in light of these newest revelations, the NDP is calling for an investigation into the government’s connection with the firm.
NDP defence critic and MP Jack Harris said his party has opposed the training for some time.
Ah so PMCs run the military.
Oh but Blackwater got disbanded so no more training with the mercs with itchy trigger fingers.
No. You pay your taxes and you vote and you are entitled, my belief, to government transparency until matters of national security, some policing training and military training are involved. The Canadian taxpayer does not need to know what specialized skills some units need to be trained in, regardless of the 'I pay taxes' argument. Imagine having a referendum everytime the CF or Police service buys a new weapon or platform?? Tax payers need to worry about why that piece of **** Bev Oda still is allowed in our country before they need to worry about the CF and RCMP receiving some training from Blackwater.
It's just the opposition poking and finding problems against the leading party. I bet you that they would've done the same thing if they were around at that time.
Pretty much that."Our government secured the appropriate training for our men and women in uniform to ensure they had the skills required to survive a very difficult military mission in Afghanistan."
It actually did undergo a significant transformation when Erik Prince left and they became Xe. For years the company was saddled with questionable management, because most of the people in hi level positions weren't actual business people, but a cabal of retired SEAL Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, and Warrant Officers. Probably great guys to go on the road with overseas, or kick down a door, but not the best business people. When the company transitioned to Xe, there was a big turnover in management, so that you had people with MBAs and extensive corporate experience.
