Default Taxpayers Stuck with Bill for Illegal Immigrants

    August 8, 2012

    By Todd Starnes

American taxpayers could be forced to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to cover the costs of President Obama’s new immigration policy – including footing the bill for illegal immigrant application fees, according to internal Dept. of Homeland Security documents.
The president’s policy, known as the Dream Act, goes into effect next week and is expected to cost taxpayers more than $350 million to implement in just the first year. And that amount could increase substantially depending on the number of illegals who might apply.

The documents reveal DHS is expected to hire 1,569 full-time workers – in addition to contractors who will be responsible for taking deferred action requests and running background checks.
The Obama administration has publicly said they expected about 800,000 illegals to apply for deferred action during the first year of implementation.
However, according to DHS documents, the government actually expects 1,041,300 illegals to apply.
That’s because the administration has expanded the pool of eligible applicants. Initially, illegals were required to have graduated from an American high school or earned a GED. But now the government will allow applicants so long as they re-enroll in school by the date of their application.
Less than ten percent of the new employees will be hired to detect fraud – one for every 8,010 applications. http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes...mmigrants.html

So Obama really is creating jobs

Got' damn aliens. We don't need any more of them! Especially here in TX! You can go to almost any Home Depot and find groups amongst more groups just standing there...

Why don't you guys do something about the people who encourage them by hiring them as cheap labor? Hit the demand side of the equation.

Kinda tough to do. Most of them are cash-only day laborers. Technically all contractors legal and illegal who make more than $800 per year from an employer must recieve a form 1099 filed by the employer. But nobody files and nearly all labor reciepts are bogus. If called out on it in an IRS audit the businesses would just claim the spent money as profit from doing business and pay the tax; if they don't already. See, enforcing immigration ain't the IRS's balliwick and they have no incentive within their jurisdiction (i.e. no fat tax money to be collected to defray the the costs for climbing up every small-business owner's and/or self-employed person's ass.).

Short answer: pretty much impossible to effectively regulate an underground cash economy.

What I mean is, why not raid the businesses that employ them? We have workplace raids by immigration authorities here in Australia to nab illegal workers. Is that something that can be done in the U.S.?

The federal government refuses to do it themselves and the they won't let the state governments do it either. States get sued for trying to screw with the dreamers underground railroad.

Yeah, they can and do. But it hardly ever happens. As MT says, it's soley the fed's jurisdiction and they lack the funding, resources, and political motivation to do so.

I will never understand why does the US make it so easy for illegal aliens to live normally. I know a couple of people who are illegals and when they tell me how easy it all is. They get a regular, proper drivers licence, buy a home, work without any problems, no one ask's them anything (one example I know of is in Michigan, I don't know if regulations are different about that in other states)....It's like the US Government is not only not trying to find them but everything is set up in a way that will actually help the illegals blend in.

And when I take a look at US immigration policies for me it's almost impossible to immigrate to the US.

Relationship between those two thing, how hard it is to legally immigrate and how easy it is to be an illegal immigrant dont make absolutely no sense (to me at least).

And then look at the steps Arizona and other states have taken to combat illegal immigrants, and the resulting Federal action against the State.

I should renounce my citizenship, fly to Mexico, and come back over the border illegally. Sounds like a good gig.

I guess for me its not bad footing a bill when the there is a big return for the investment. Rather than spend the money on pithole of Pakistan and Aghanistan. These undocumented minors shares a dream about America.
