Default Robin Hood mayor promises more supermarket food raids

Robin Hood mayor promises more supermarket food raids
The mayor of the Seville town of Marinaleda, Juan Manuel Sánchez Gordillo, promised on Wednesday a repeat of the extraordinary scenes he orchestrated the day before, when he led hundreds of members of the Andalusian Union of Workers (SAT) in robbing products from two supermarkets. The Robin Hood-style escapade was carried out, Sánchez Gordillo explained, because "someone has to do something so that families can eat."
The politician, who has been mayor of Marinaleda for 33 years and is also a deputy in the Andalusia regional government for the left-wing grouping United Left (IU), spent Wednesday on a Seville estate that belongs to the Ministry of Defense. Sánchez Gordillo and his supporters occupied the land just over two weeks ago.
While the media was there in force, given the furor over the supermarket thefts the day before, there was no sign of the authorities, despite the fact that the interior minister, Jorge Fernández Díaz, ordered the arrest of the perpetrators of the theft.
Sánchez Gordillo did not take part in the robbery of goods at the Mercadona supermarket in Écija, but was outside the store, directing the operation with the use of a megaphone. At the same time, the general secretary of SAT, Diego Cañamero, entered a Carrefour store. Each group took around a dozen shopping carts filled with sugar, oil, milk and other staples, and left without paying.
But no NGO had put out a request for the items, and food banks reported that they have sufficient supplies without having to resort to stolen goods.

Political populism over the rule of law. I hope they arrest this guy, strip him of his government post and put him away for a significant period of time. If he is allowed to get away with this, it will spread.

He and a few others are facing criminal proceedings for this act,

they have also been condemned for it seeing how supermarkets in the area,

have been freely contributing money and items to help the poor.

What a freak. He put himself above the law and should be punished accordingly! With that being said, a wholly different part of the story made me stop short..

Did he tell his mobsters that he's effectively co-responsible for the crisis which is also a result of mismanagement and lavish spending on the behalf of the Spanish regional governments - who, for example, built 24 airports that have never even seen a plane?

Your points are mainly irrelevant as you add no verifiable sources or any proof, and off topic,
you want to have a political rant, with regards your claims, then open your own thread
however, in this specific case, the clown of a mayor was filmed in taking part in criminal activity,
ergo condemned by his own ego.

Hah, I'd like to see them try, especially with the Korean supermarkets.

Marinaleda is a relic of post-Franco Spain. Marinaleda is a self-administered less than 3000 strong hamlet with several pecularities.

One of them is the system of ownership. There be Commies. As for the immense cost. Well it has been quoted that each house costs in materials around 20K euros provied by the local junta.

Hardly an overburden compared to other white elephants.
