That is not how any of these people think. You dont do such crimes and think "oh as I only get 10 years i will do it, if I got 20 I wouldnt". They just expect to not get caught at all, if they are their life as they know it is over anyway. Some also hope to get caught and be stopped.

But I'm not talking about the difference between the rapist getting ten and twenty years, I'm talking about the difference between the rapist living and dying. If the penalty for raping and murdering someone is the same as the penalty for raping someone then I don't see what reason the attacker has to let the victim live.

Looking at it logically I'm against the death penalty for rape cases. The rapist will know if he gets caught he's going to die so why leave behind the victim as a living breathing witness who can identify him? He would literally have nothing to lose by killing the victim.

I remember a number of years ago, of a man who adopted a girl from Russia. Within a day he was ******ly abusing her. He posted his actions online from a hotel room at Disneyland. The image showed a sign through the window of the room. Police officers found this obscure image after a **** bust, and after months of effort, finally narrowed it down to the room, the person who rented it and busted the creep. The girl, then a late teen, testified in front of the U.S. Senate.

I have respect I can't put into words for the officers that have chosen or been assigned to this kind of detail. I cannot fathom the depravity associated with the perps, nor the compartmentalization necessary of the officers to walk away from their job at the end of their day, and go home to a family that could not have a single clue as to how their day went, nor want to know.
The effort these officers are going through to find these sick MF, is to be lauded. Their work is unsung. Until they finally find the bastards.

The Dutch guy, Mikelsons, was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison. To be followed by involuntary commitment. This means he will never get out.

By all means, life in jail with hard labour, cut their legs off, staple their eyelids to their foreheads but I can't help but think that the death penalty for rape would lead to more rape/murders.
