As to Biden, I bet he is one hell of a guy to have a beer with. None of these people are idiots like the opposition likes to paint them. Even Dan Quayle was no slouch.......... I would suggest looking at Biden's life. While he does come across as opening his mouth to change the foot in it. As what happened to his wife and what he did about it. I wonder how many here have done or could have done the same? Libtards and Conservatards are all Americans too. Yes, as Paul Ryan quoted his father, "You are either part of the problem or part of the solution."

Maybe when we the people get past the BS smoker screen and really start looking at people and other Americans as something more than a idiot or stooge that disagree with us.................... Heck maybe we can be actually have something to do with improving our country.

which is what I read on ZH this morning

For starters there is the very pressing and disturbing votes of the Bush legacy. Specifically Ryan's support of: TARP, Medicare Part D and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). All three are wonderful examples of how the Republican party only fights for fiscal sanity when they are a minority party, the second they become the majority they expand Government programs at an alarming rate. NCLB is a monstrosity that gave the Department of Education teeth, Medicare Part D tacked on hundreds of billions (half a trillion as of today per year) to the debt and was passed in the House in a manner very reminiscent to ObamaCare and TARP is an egregious disregard of the free market system and should make any citizen sick to their stomach. While Ryan may be able to justify all these votes, there are Republicans in the House who did *not* vote for these programs and quite a handful

Hollis, I completely agree with you, most of these politicians are not idiots, even Quayle, Palin, George W., Biden, etc. But the campaign has turned bitter and nasty already and the next 80 plus days, will not likely be the time frame when we will see much improvement in the "get along" factor in politics. Maybe later but I bet not before the election.

Part of the problem, is most folks, me included by the way, we always think that we can influence someone to change their political view by our words...which generally we can't.

I think a substantially overlooked problem in the way campaigns are run have to do with how the press reports the "news". In my very humble opinion, it seems they chose a candidate to support and only by the thinnest of veneers attempt to be "objective". If one feels an impartial and independent news media is important in seeking the truth and properly reporting both sides of an issue, we are quite properly fvcked. We currently have nothing of the sort. Most people just read the paper, watch network news, and have almost zero desire to try and determine if what they see or hear is in any way accurate. A good example would be the quote attributed to Sarah Palin, that she could see Russia from her back yard, something she never said, yet which was reported and passed along as true. Most people just accepted it and fit it into the mainstream press template of her as a complete fool.

The current state of politics in the US says more about the voters than it does the politicians.

Interesting thing about the Ryan pick.... The left is going berserk attacking Ryan's stands on the debt, the economy, entitlements and more. The MSM is of course following suit. But Obama's campaign has done everything under the sun to divert attention away from these very issues. Now, in a single day, those very issues are all back at the forefront and Mitt's taxes are already fading from the gnat-like memory of voters. I wonder what Big O's campaign handlers will do now?

We have precisely the government we deserve; the one we have ourselves chosen.

Its like having split vision the voters are not really linking President Obama to these issues and now Ryan is a bonus target. Even if Obama is seen as hapless he is not going to be portrayed as a Medicaid cutting flip yo granny on her butt kinda guy.

Mr Gent, I am not so sure. When a state like Oregon could flip, that is saying alot. This election is for the Republicians to lose. I mean, if your not effected by this economy, you must be rich.

Its only an opinion but I feel those in the great mass of the middle will be little affected by either outcome its the top and bottom that are set to gain or lose.

Wrong. My retirement savings plans are going to be totally buttfvcked by Obamacare in 2014 when the government puts a gun to my head and forces me to purchase and pay for much more gold-plated healthcare insurance than I want. If the Repubs can repeal the Obamacare disaster and institute real reform that actually lowers healthcare prices, it will benefit myself and all the others in the middle class greatly.

Arrow The media blow it on Ryan

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...9ba8_blog.html

The punditocracy has gotten nearly everything wrong in this election cycle. Its presumed wisdom about Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is no exception. Here’s my top 10 things the media got wrong (I’m sure I’ve missed a few):
