Nice fish for the UK. In Italy, Spain and by now Germany they get caught in that size pretty often and up to 100kg+.

im a keen fisherman and also watched that(it was not a catfish),i belive at the end of the day due to the fish being so big just a slap off them was enought to send any1 overboard,think we seen the power as when in that program he got into a homemade fishpen with them and tryed to catch them

Mostly because it makes for good photos in the papers - oh, and also because catfish are the scourge of their habitat. Lots have been introduced in ponds with the goal to make bigger, more exciting fishing tournaments, with the net result of the damn things eating every fish, frog and insect in said ponds. If they grew legs they'd be attacking poultry coops and keeling your rubbish bins over.

Great catch, and best part is she didn't kill it simply for the trophy. Now some buffoon will go and catch it to kill it.
