A Bangladeshi peacekeeper was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Darfur region of Sudan Sunday morning.
Ajgar Ali was killed in gunfire by miscreants as a bullet went straight through his neck when he was guarding a UN structure in Darfur around 8:00am. The gunfire also left two others injured.
He was serving at Otash Community Police Camp in Darfur.
Kamrul Ahsan, public relations officer of police headquarters, confirmed the incident.
Ajgar, 40, hailing from Sathiya upazila of Pabna, landed in Sudan for United Nations peacekeeping mission on July 8 this year. He joined Bangladesh Police in 1996.
Bangladeshi peace keepers have been attacked numerous times on UN missions, but they have always fought, their reputation of being not so easy going has allowed to them to keep the peace in places like Cote DI Ivoire.
