After he was presented with his weapon, the policeman used it on the presenters. I guess if you're going to give somebody a weapon to defend his country, a loaded one is symbolically preferrable?

Add this to another 7 dead in what the Taliban claim is a helicopter they shot down during a firefight, and the daily casualty rate starts to look like the Talies haven't been rocked as much as some people think.

    A bad day all round.

Can we leave that sh**hole yet? Seriously, why are we still there? National security my a**. Round up all the equipment and weapons, tear down all the facilities, and let them live in a third world sh**hole. Build a bunch of super-sophisticated satellites with the money we save and watch their every move. Bomb them as necessary.

    Rest in peace gentlemen.

It occurs to me that years ago in Iraq, there was a push to have tribal elders and family vouch for recruits for the IP. The theory was that if they risked disgracing their family, tribe and respected members of their community they would be less likely to commits acts such as these. Does such an effort exist anywhere where members here have experience?
