Arrow Air marshals accused in Mich. assault

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ult/57104954/1

Federal air marshals partying in Grand Rapids are accused of punching and kicking at least two people outside of a downtown bar, leaving one man unconscious on the pavement.

Cody Zink, who says one of the marshals kicked him in the groin area.

The marshals were apparently not in Grand Rapids on official business. In June, a group of them visited for the weekend to relax in a downtown hotel and enjoy the nightlife. They got into trouble after witnesses say one shoved a woman at an outdoor hot dog cart and punched a man trying to protect her.

"(The man) sucker punched him," Zink says. "(He) knocked him out in one hit. His face hit the pavement on the sidewalk. Then they started acting like they were going to start kicking him."

Zink and his friends asked the men to back away and let them help the unconscious, bleeding man on the pavement. He says that's when the suspects turned on them.

"I had my hands up saying, 'I'm not trying to start a fight,'" he said. "That's when the guy that was walking after me kicked me in the testicles. I went down immediately."

If this incident is true, one must wonder about the mindset and capabilities of these people in a confined space as is the aircraft cabin and their particular judgment of the situation.

You think that's bad? Try Secret Service, the guys that protect the president's life, hooking up with Colombian prostitutes.

Not all Federal Agents are exactly saints.

I have a friend that is an Air Marshall and the selection process is not casual but even the most balanced folk can get a little negligent on social events involving alchohol.

Oh come on, there is a huge difference between hooking up with a pro and assaulting someone's balls. Seriously. Both are unprofessional I'll give you that but one is also malicious and possibly disfiguring.

On another note, awesome story from my hometown. At least its good to know people think its a cool place to go.

Seeing is how they were off duty and not in town on official business, I'm guessingFAMS will conclude their actions were outside the scope of their employment and they will be subject to whatever criminal, civil and admin action comes their way. Certainly not a reflection on the FAMS.

But who goes to Grand Rapids for the night life?

    .

I don't see how the security of the president is affected if you bang a hooker while off duty.

Agreed, an ass kicking is way worse than a pro and some blow.

If it is good enough for Congress, why not.

I just mentioned the hooker incident as an example of lapse in judgement. If you work for someone high profile, fooling around with prostitutes in Colombia is not the smartest of ideas.

Both actions are stupid, but I will agree that this incident is stupid and violent.

It must be quite disturbing for Secret Service agents to witness various US presidents hooking up with ladies cheating on the first Lady and finally seeing themselves punished for the prostitutes issue. And more disturbing that you are obliged to total secrecy of the president's private life while you are getting punished for simply practicing your right to have a private life.

They knew the deal when they signed up for the gig. And hiring hookers in a foreign country and bringing them back to where you are staying and then causing an international incident is not simply practicing your right to have a private life. Play stupid games wins stupid prizes.
