Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to going to sea, excited and a little scared of the unknown. I just want a rating I like and to be a good Sailor.

and that's how you should feel. A little apprehension is normal. I think you ,because of your maturity, will do fine.

So, the "old man" of division 257 at RTC Great Lakes made it through boot camp relatively unscathed, with the exception of getting a case of pink eye I caught at battle stations. I.T. was great in the end; Chow sucked balls; every single recruit pissed me off, but in the end, it was worth going through all the bulls*** and it feels great to be a Sailor! I have orders to Norfolk, VA after "A" School to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75). I'll keep you guys updated when I have time. Don't have too much fun, and to my fellow Shipmates, take care out there.

wicked, have fun, most of all.....keep a written diary if humanly possible and also take lots of digital photos and then burn them to a CD or DVD and keep them for your later years. Bust your rear to be the best sailor in your unit, get decorated! keep in mind you are the latest in a long long line of US navy sailors that included my father in law and his father before him as well as my son in law. Anchors away! (making audio/video recordings too are great but the written diary and photo are a must)
