It's probably a big f*cking issue if you have a vagina and this asshole is passing laws that effect it.

You know, after so many years of politics, you would think that a Politican would know that there are some "sacred cows" you just don't touch. This douchebag had the lead and would have probably won if he could have kept his pie hole shut.
I am always amazed on how stupid politicans are.

They always fall for questions from the media. What if, a Politician said, I won't answer that question because the people want me to fix the state economy and provide them jobs? He didn't have to answer the question. The media would have blasted him either way but I'm betting a safer bet would have been "I need to fix spending/jobs/state economy" before I tackle those other issues.

    Just my 2cents.

Blaming the media is tiring. Really? They put the words in his mouth? He was asked about his stance about No Exceptions Abortion. Even in case of rape. Why does he think the way he does? That's when he delivered the remarks. Nobody forced him.
This "gotcha" bull**** has to stop. If Palin says that she reads all kinds of sh!t regularly, then it's a valid question to ask her what she reads. Don't ****ing say it, if you have no answer.

    http://www.akin.org/issues/life-0

Our founders understood that life is a fundamental right granted to us by our Creator and that the government’s role is to protect this right. A government that doesn’t protect innocent life fails at one of its most basic roles. I believe that life begins at conception and I’m appalled that we do not protect the innocent lives of our unborn children.
As a former Board Member of Missouri Right to Life, I have remained steadfast in fighting for life. I actively worked to pass numerous pro-life legislative initiatives at both the state and federal level. Because of these actions, Planned Parenthood has listed me in their “Toxic Ten” worst legislators in the US for daring to stand up for the unborn.
I have repeatedly fought against our tax dollars going to fund abortions. Just in the past two years, I cosponsored the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 3) and the Protect Life Act (H.R. 358) both of which passed the House.
Recently, I discovered a potential loop-hole where abortions might be funded with our tax dollars through multi-state health exchanges. To prevent the indirect funding of abortions, I introduced H.R. 4971 the Stop Abortion Funding in Multi-state Exchange Plans (SAFE) Act. My amendment was added to the FY2013 House Financial Services Appropriations bill.
I also stand against embryonic stem cell research. It is wrong to build science upon the lives of our unborn children. Furthermore, there are other viable options which do not promote abortion: adult stem cells and cord blood stem cells are two of these.
Protecting life is fundamental to freedom.

He is proud to be listed as a part of the "Toxic Ten" by the planned parenthood. This is not some new ground for him, this is him. He is all about tooting his own horn about fighting the libruls and Planned Parenthood.

I don't think we should blame the media for his idiocy.

If the question was posed to me - I would have just said, I believe in the sanctity of life. However - having known victims of rape, I know better than try to dictate my views on someone who has already been victimized once.

It is a difficult question - one that is hard to answer. If you believe that - and act based on those beliefs - you won't institute draconian idiot policies.

You don't have to dodge the question - just state your views, confess it is a difficult problem - and that's it. Most people are reasonable and can agree that it is a difficult problem.

Susan B. Anthony List, a national organization that promotes pro-life politicians, also lent him some encouraging words.
“Congressman Akin, a longtime pro-life leader, has said he had misspoken, and no one is arguing that rape is anything but a despicable, horrible crime,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, the group’s president, said in a statement. “Abortion supporters like Sen. So yeah... GOP has pretty much cut Akin off, Akin himself is refusing to step down, and McCaskill is wanting to keep him in place to the point of lambasting the GOP with this little gem:
"I really think that for the national party to try to come in here and dictate to the Republican primary voters that they're going to invalidate their decision, that would be pretty radical, and I think there could be a backlash," McCaskill said.
The amount of political maneuvering that is resulting from this would be hilarious to watch if it were not so painful.

The bolder part is key, these are not his views, these are THE LORDS views.

    Makes you wonder:
A: How we've managed to make it this far.
B: how even more screwed up the Soviet Union was.

If you look at some of the people we elect, it's pretty astonishing. There was a congressman a couple of years ago who worried out loud that sending more Marines to Guam would sink the island. Too much weight on a small island. In a committee hearing. Churchill said it best. Democracy is the worst form of government possible - except for any other. From ABC Todd Akin's Rape Comments May Have Repercussions for Mitt Romney

Now with Akin making headlines, Democrats will seek to tie Ryan to the Missouri congressman by highlighting social-issues legislation on which they've partnered.
Akin and Ryan cosponsored a 2011 bill, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act, that would redefine rape as "forcible rape," narrowing the scope of what's considered rape in cases of abortion. Akin and Ryan also cosponsored a personhood bill and the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act of 2004, which would require abortion providers to "make a specified statement to the pregnant woman that Congress has determined that there is substantial evidence that the process will cause the unborn child pain."

That's a link that will be hard to play down and easy to make a lot of.
