Anyone who cannot listen to Rush, Hannity, NBC, Fox or CNN without a critical thought process, knowing the bias they all have, probably shouldn't be listening to the media at all. I welcome the diverse stream of information from all sources, (can't watch MSNBC though, sorry). They ALL say stuff I disagree with, but I sure like to hear what the mainstream leaves out and how each side spins their stories.

    Doubling down ....
    From boston.com
Republican convention platform committee approves strict anti-abortion plank

The 110-member panel, meeting today in Tampa, Fla., passed a so-called Human Life Amendment that calls for a ban on abortion, without mention of the more common exceptions for victims of rape or incest.

I have to say, I've done a 180 on the abortion thing. I'm not a Bible thumper by any means, and actually I think pretty liberal socially. I just can't support abortion. To me, it's a human life however you slice it. All that said, I don't understand why the Republican Party has to shove this issue in everyone's face. Particularly after numbnuts little speech about rape.

You miss the big picture here - the ones pushing the bans on abortion are more interested in putting women back in their place then in preventing abortion. If you are against abortion one would think you would be for birth control and *** ed. Planned parenthood has PREVENTED more pregnancies then they have terminated, by several orders of magnitude.

I bring it up every time we have one of these dumbass threads. Barry Goldwater's wife started the first Planned Parenthood in Arizona. Think about it. Planning a pregnancy for when you can support the child, is a decidedly conservative idea.

Nobody I know thinks abortion is a great idea for anyone concerned. But I think that women should simply have the choice. Period. Full stop. Unencumbered by legislation written by a bunch of old men like this ignorant douchebag. I have great respect for people who believe in the sanctity of life as a religious and personal stance. But not as blanket legislation.

I literarly don't watch any news nor listen to radio. No joke. If I listen to something, it's the Dan Patrick show, but I have the app for that. When I glance at MP.net in the morning, most of the interesting stuff has already been posted, and a discussion is going on. News.google.com also works for me.

I need some examples in the vein of Todd Akin. A senatorial candidate, or somebody like that.

I'm always confused about the republican parties stance of "less government" yet have no qualms about legislating a woman's body...

There isn't a party which wants less government. They just want the government to do their bidding. If their bidding is done, then govt is just and fair. If not, then it's an overbloated, overbearing, dictating, freedom taking behemoth.

Next from the GOP, an amendment to allow stoning women to death that are pregnant out of wedlock.
