Honestly, for me, it's the old saying, you can do whatever you want as long as you don't hurt anyone else. I guess I just recognized that there is someone else involved here, and that human life is pretty defenseless. I don't see it as anti-woman, just more pro-child. I'm not out carrying signs or proselytizing, but there are a lot of people who feel that way, and aren't out there bombing clinics (truly ironic) or in anyone's face, that's just what they believe is right. As far as planning, prevention, sure full speed ahead. Not all pro-lifers are nuts, not all feminists are man haters, not all NRA members are "extremists".

Id be more pro life if we had more measures in place to take care of the unwanted kids, or give parents ALOT of assistance for an unwanted baby or baby that they cant afford. But then again, a safety net like that is going to cost the government a pretty penny. And lets say we ban abortion, expand social programs, etc.. why should I PAY for that? This is a bit of a conundrum..
Do we AS A NATION take care of the unwanted kids as well as the distraught parents by forking over a lil bit more in your check each pay period?
Or do we let these women decide on their own whether or not they are prepared to be a parent.
They cut to the quick
“Being violently coerced into having *** was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, so I take comfort in knowing it wasn’t actually rape,” Byars said of the vicious encounter in which she was accosted in an alleyway by a stranger, pinned to the ground, and penetrated against her will for 25 minutes. “It was absolutely horrific—I felt violated in the worst way imaginable—but thanks to Congressman Akin, I now realize it must, at some level, have been consensual after all.”

You might have a soul or not, but your subjective experience of life is going to be the same regardless, and defined by your mind rather than anything else. Maybe you do have a soul, you can't really check. But if you did or didn't, would anything feel different? Feelings are function of the mind/brain anyway, they will work soul or no soul. Thoughts, plans, hopes, fears, too. I guess there is that whole immortal life thing, but that doesn't come in play until later. For the most part, the concept of the soul doesn't explain anything, but adds all kinds of wrinkles - like forcing one into substance dualism, etc.
