a terrifying piece of news.AK 47 is popular because of it's deadly firepower and relatively low cost of maintenance but it should not be given to civilians.
American civilians are buying as many AK47s from Russia's top armory as the Russian military and police.
The surge in sales of Russian assault rifles and shotguns are fuelled by firearms enthusiasts who are paranoid about the weapons being banned in the United States.
The semiautomatic weapons, fitted with high-capacity magazines, are manufactured at Izhevsk Machinebuilding Plant, Russia's primary small arms factory.
They are built alongside the fully-automatic military versions that are used by armies, militias and terrorists around the world.
In the United States, they have become immensely popular. Among hunters, recreational shooters and survivalists, they are known for being extremely reliable and relatively inexpensive -- and they fire powerful ammunition that is cheap and plentiful.

Pretty sure its a repost.
Someone needs to learn how to make the difference between assault rifles like the AK, AKM, AK-74 and the semi-automatic rifles that are sold in the USA.
It really gets my nerves when media making any "cool" looking civilian semi-auto firearms an "assault rifle".
I doubt the russian military or police are buying AK-47s at all.
Everything that is russian and has a curved magazine is a AK-47.
But since I hardly expect the russian military to buy many AKs as they have millions of them stored, this article is of course true.
Even if only a small number of AKs are actually bought.
Sensationalism strikes once more. You gotta give them credit for their skills tho - they've combined two already mentioned ways of insinuating or skewing the facts for a great effect - firstly, that AKs sold in US are actually assault rifles, and secondly - that Russian army is buying vast numbers of these rifles...
Media corporations - their purpose is business, serving the truth comes distant second, if at all.
REPOST
And also as said in the earlier topic, the topic itself is pretty silly and does not distinguish between the variants of "AK" Inspired weapons (Eg: That The Russian Military announced it no longer was even purchasing 74 Variants let alone AKMs let alone 47s) or that the US Market weapons are not exactly the same....
Basically the only news in any of this is that Russian Arms are being highly sought at the momment by Americans arming up....
And why is that so?
Arenīt civilians people like everybody else with their rights?
Why is it that an AK has deadly firepower and a Browning .300win mag īdoesnīt http://www.browning.com/products/cat...id=035&tid=707. Or it should not be given to civilians also ??
