The USA does not need to slug it out. Start by reclaiming the jobs moved to China and blovking their money laundering buisness. Any small loss in the ecomy will be a serious loss because China is a dangerously overpopulated country.

Mismanaged by a no good government? yes
    Dangerously overpopulated? NO

Germany is more populated than China.

You seem to think that it's very easy to find mobile ICBM's in a large country like China. Not to mention that no one really knows how many nukes they have, but official figure is under 500.

    Lurk more post less

Where did I say any of that and you need to use the strong crew jibe a bit more sparingly.

China has more than 3,000 miles of tunnels (still expanding) in her mountainous regions to hide nukes, plus a vast road and rail network for mobile TELs. If any country has a guaranteed second strike capability, China is one of them.

While China can safely cripple Japan with a limited nuke strike, a full nuke attack at a country the size of China probably will destroy the whole world, including the attacker, not to mention China's second strike capability is pretty much guaranteed.

Take a look at some actual fallout maps and read something about the real effects from real tests. Then you will no long make statements like this.

As for China's second strike capability, that is not really relevant. If China strikes Japan, we will strike China. We have a mutual defense treaty. The vast majority of China's population is concentrated in the southeast, and the death toll there would in the hundreds of millions. China would cease to exist as a nation. For this reason, the idea of China launching a nuclear strike on Japan is just so much China strong fanboi fantasy crapola.

How is that not relevant? Like I said: "pick your favorite" U.S. city or cities to be destroyed.

China is one of the few countries with "no first use" policy.

    What makes you say this?

We DO have a defense treaty.

And Japan herself is merely a 'screwdrivers turn' away from actual high yield atomics, with missiles to ferry them.

Or are you saying we wouldn't dare strike China in the face of a nuclear attack on Japan?

Why should the USA bleed and expend its resources to protect Japanese, Korean, Philippine, etc. interests in Asia? While large portion of the population of the same nations distrusts America and have large demonstrations outside US bases. Japan and Korea are both wealthy nations, let them fend for their own interests.

Washington probably does not trust that Japanese would remain so peaceful if they had nukes and stronger military.

    Just my wild speculation.

Trade economics. US can't afford to ignore/leave South Asia.

    Have you read Japanese consitution?

ARTICLE 9. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. (2) To accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.
