A Minnesota Democrat who had a rest-stop sexual encounter with a 17-year-old boy says he's still running for re-election.
Democratic Rep. Kerry Gauthier told Northland's NewsCenter in Duluth on Wednesday he will let people in his district decide his political future, "rather than the political power base in St. Paul."
The 56-year-old also told the news network that he's "a better person than this incident portrayed me."
Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton says Gauthier's decision will be "destructive" for his reputation, his district, his party and the state.
Police say Gauthier admitted to engaging in oral sex with the boy after advertising on Craigslist for "no strings attached" sex. He won't face criminal charges because the boy was older than the legal age of consent and no money was exchanged.

Well it is Minnesota...This guys is a perv. He should have at least a little shame and drop out for chrissakes. But if he had any class, he wouldn't have been blowing boys in restrooms in the first place.
You guys are missing the larger issue, if he'd been a Republican he would have been a deacon in his church, married with 3 kids, head of the local Family Values Council and adamantly against gay rights. That's usually the difference...

Clearly Todd Akin should have had a ****** encounter with a 17 yr old boy instead of uttering a few senseless and idiotic comments. Then he'd have been fine.
Akin says a silly thing and makes world news. Gauthier plays the rest stop creep and doesn't make national headlines.

Seeing as age of consent is 18, why is this man not being shanked in the prison shower right about now?
The two should have a public debate on if his conduct in the rest stop was legitimate. Preferably on a sinking ship.
I'm gonna go out on a limb, not a pole, and say the age of consent is probably 16 there.
