Actually in some parts of Texas they sell .50 cal rifles in hardware stores.

Hell I was in Brownsville for 3 months in 05, not only could I not find 40. cal ammo at Walmart, they didn't even stock any gun magazines. I was pissed. And everyone kept asking if I the guys I was with worked for the Border Patrol. I 'm thinking, what the hell does that have to do with me getting a haircut, or buying dinner.

There are people behind the scenes pulling all the strings...and it seems that they have plans that people can't even fathom.
