Anything with armor will be bigger than a humvee.

Well then, what would you suggest to replace the hobbled uparmored humvee with? These are the balance between the humvee and the MRAP.

As long as my knees aren't up to my face and I actually have some room for gear while maintaining adequate protection and crew comfort would be nice aswell as good acceleration going up hill and a you get windows that you actually have good situational awareness. Those who drove the MATV's know what I'm talking about.

Probably my only real complaint about the MATV. I mean, the small windows look cool and high-tech and all, but how hard would it be to put in windows you can actually see out of (and what's with the orange tint?).

BAE had the right vic for the job...but the Army didn't want to give the contract to a British company it seems...even though the damn thing was going to be built in TEXAS! And AM General was only in the competition when they protested and got it reopened...originally it was down to OshKosh, LM, and BAE.

Yeah when I was doing the "Pendleton 100" aka do a lap around the entire base I could not see jack sh*t as POV's flew by me.In country I had to wing alot of tight turns around wadi's or ask my gunner if we are about to do a roll over drill.Orange tint don't really get it either.Maybe for sun light? Who know's.

The Lockheed submission will be built by BAE so I doubt the fact that BAE (BAE is essentially American at this point) is British influenced the decision.

BAE Systems IS an American company. Used to be called United Defense before BAE bought them.

Easy there, Pardner. I don't know where you're getting your information. AM General was part of the General Tactical Vehicles team from the beginning, which was one of the 3 teams that won first-round contracts along with BAE Systems and LockMart. They spun out an independent bid when the program was re-shuffled before the EMD (round 2) award. The first-round protests, by Boeing and Northrup (w/Oshkosh) were denied.
