The South African Border War The South African Border War, commonly referred to as the Angolan Bush War in South Africa, was a conflict that took place from 1966 to 1989 in South-West Africa (now Namibia) and Angola between South Africa and its allied forces (mainly UNITA) on the one side and the Angolan Armed Forces (FAPLA), South-West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), and their allies – mainly Cuba – on the other. To mention all the vast amount of information available will be a huge task. I will attached a sub-section of a presentation that I did 4 years ago, which will give you some better insight into this largely unknown 23 year long battle. The Battle of Cuito Canavale was the biggest battle since El Alamein on the African continent, and the Cuban/MPLA/Russian/Warsaw Pact buildup was tremendous, with 3x Russian top-generals and 2x Cuban generals leading the attack.
Needless to say - their asses were kicked, Cuba will deny it at every time to save face. The information will be included. One of those 2 Cuban generals - he was executed in Havana for fleeing before the enemy[South African forces] and the other escaped with a light aircarft to Florida[USA] - to date the highest Cuban to have escaped to the West.
