    LIBERIA – Peacekeepers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 56th Detached Helicopter Unit, fulfilling tasks within the UN Mission in Liberia, completed a Search and Rescue training in evacuation of simulated victims from the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.
    During the training Mi-8MT helicopters were equipped with special lifting devices LPG-150 enabling the rescuers delivery to specified spots.
    Ghanaian peacekeepers also participated in the training, maintaining guard and defense of the helipad and evacuation area, as well as medical aid to simulated victims.

    Capt. Chuck Larson, 31, from Des Moines, Iowa, holds his daughters Camille, 5, and Estelle, 3, after returning from Afghanistan on Sept. 9. Larson was one of 36 Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 who deployed for seven months. During their tour they provided convoy security and logistics support for units in Helmand province.     A Marine assigned to Battalion Landing Team 3/2, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires his M4 Carbine at a target during a fire-team rushing exercise at Fort Pickett, Va., Sept. 8, 2012. The exercise taught the Marines to communicate effectively during duress, increasing their ability to perform under pressure. This training was part of the 26th MEU's pre-deployment training program. BLT 3/2 is one of the three reinforcements of 26th MEU, which is slated to deploy in 2013.

    Members from the 100th SFS manned several towers around the FOB during a joint mission rehearsal exercise, also known as MRX, with Royal Air Force members from 15 Squadron, RAF Honington; No. 2 Tactical Police Squadron, RAF Henlow; and No. 7 Force Protection Wing Headquarters, RAF Coningsby. During the MRX, U.S. Air Force members played as U.S. Marine Corps for the British forces, who are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in the near future.

    In addition to doing their own training, the 100th SFS personnel spent several days at STANTA role-playing as the U.S. Marine Corps with Royal Air Force members from three squadrons, who are finishing the final stage of year-long preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.
