Marines headed to Libya to reinforce security
By ROBERT BURNS, AP National Security Writer – 5 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials say some 50 Marines are being sent to Libya to reinforce security at U.S. diplomatic facilities in the aftermath of an attack in the eastern city of Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador and three American members of his staff.
The Marines are members of an elite group known as a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team, whose role is to respond on short notice to terrorism threats and to reinforce security at U.S. embassies. They operate worldwide.
The officials who disclosed the plan to send the Marines spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three embassy staff were killed as they rushed away from the consulate building, stormed by al Qaeda-linked gunmen blaming America for a film that they said insulted the Prophet Mohammad. Stevens was trying to leave the consulate building for a safer location as part of an evacuation when gunmen launched an intense attack, apparently forcing security personnel to withdraw. *******/Esam Al-Fetori

"The officials who disclosed the plan to send the Marines spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly."

    Brilliant plan...

On another note, it makes me so happy to see how much they love us in Libya. At what point does cause and effect not come into play?

The same people we helped defeat Gaddafi are the SAME PEOPLE that want us just as DEAD. Its a two-faced enemy, and AL-QAEDA is its name, of course they will accept our aide and claim to fight for 'freedom/democracy' then the next minute you turn your back, **** like this goes down. Hmm, lets see. They stormed the US Embassy and killed our Ambassador along with 3 others, set fires, and replaced our flag with the al-Qaeda one: all because of a ****ING MOVIE! Seems like reasonable peace-loving people to me...

Should send in another 1000 US troops and open up a Gitmo #2 there. Save us time and air-fare. Apparently we don't have to travel very far to battle al-Qaeda if they come right on into our diplomatic offices in Libya...
