Taliban key commander detained in northern Afghan province

Afghan and NATO-led troops during special operations captured a Taliban key commander named Mullah Abdul Rahman from Kunduz province 250 km north of Kabul early Saturday, police said.

"Acting on tape off, a unit of special forces of Afghan and NATO-led troops raided Taliban hideout in Ghondi village of Chardara district in the wee hours of today capturing Mullah Abdul Rahman along with one of his bodyguards," provincial police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told Xinhua.

Describing the arrest as a major setback to the Taliban militants, Hussaini stressed that Mullah Rahman had also served as Taliban shadowy governor in Kunduz province besides organizing Taliban attacks in adjoining areas.

Funny enough Xhinhau is always first to report incidents with german troops in afghanistan, mostly well ahead of any german outlet. Caught it on Bild.de ( http://www.bild.de/politik/inland/ks...7232.bild.html ) and the rest comes from some afghan sources. ( http://bokhdinews.af/english/interna...fghan-province )

There is also a picture from before the operation, but can't see too much on it... ,

EDIT: Seems like Xhinhau broke the story first, but only today german politicans revealed that KSK was involved and released more information.

As I understand it the Bild article talks about two different arrests.

The CH-53 doorgunners were used in an arrest earlier this month on Oct 12 when they arrested the second in command of the guy they arrested now.

I wonder if he provided the information that lead to the second arrest ^^

At best: a conviction over pending charges in Afghanistan.
At worst: he's released by corrupt Afghan officials, traded for a hostage or breaks out of detention.
