    Default Senator Feinstein will stop the spread of deadly assault weapons

    In January, Senator Feinstein will introduce a bill to stop the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devises.

    Summary of 2013 legislation

    Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

    • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
      • 120 specifically-named firearms
      • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
      • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

    • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
      • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
      • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
      • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans

    • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
    • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
      • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
      • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
      • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

    • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
      • Background check of owner and any transferee;
      • Type and serial number of the firearm;
      • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
      • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
      • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

    I think this has a really good chance at becoming the law of the land. If I'm reading this right, semi autos would be treated like SBR's, Machine Guns and the like.

    IE this ban would make legal possession of such weapons out of reach for 99% of Americans and drive up the values to insane levels.

    This ban is scary and actually has some teeth in it...they are not playing around this time.

    She's been annoying as long as I've been politically active, when is she going to head off to the Great Spirit in the sky, I think she's in her 80's...

    Not sure how:

    "Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

    • 120 specifically-named firearms

    translates into, "legal to own" under any circumstance. Hopefully she gets metaphorically *****-slapped like she deserves.

    I'm referring to the grandfather clause of the bill in regards to ownership being like having an MG or SBR.

    But yeah if didn't have it before the law, you're SOL

    Watch the Democrats try to tie it to any "fiscal cliff" negotiations. "We'll help the nation avoid the fiscal cliff but only if we get bend the 2nd Amendment over and **** it with a chainsaw."

    If passed this would effectively kill the AR industry. Unless I am reading it wrong, unlike in 1994 a post-ban configuration rifle simply isn't viable.

    The saddest part is if they did that, and the Republicans told them to go to hell, it'd be all over the media that the Republicans were going to force the nation over the cliff - and many would buy it.
