Default Wehrmacht In Russia (1941) Colour footage (Non Edited)

    http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=4d3_1356677039
Extremely rare amateur colour footage taken by soldiers of the Wehrmacht during Operation Barbarossa.

    The songs:
Russlandlied (Von Finnland bis zum Schwarzen Meer)
    Lebe Wohl, du kleine Monika
    Veronika
EDIT: Actually most of the footage is Pre-Deployment and taken in Germany.

    Thanks for the video.

This unit is equipped with ex-French Army Panhard 178. They have even retained the MAC-31 7,5mm MG. The drum magazines are visible on the open door.

Such cheerful music, you can almost forget that you are watching footage from horrific times...

Interesting footage, thx for posting. Unfortunately for these men, they would be using pretty much these same uniforms in the coming, horrific russian winter of 41/42.

That's the power of Nazi propaganda.

I didn't see it as propaganda. It was just video taken by German soldiers that hit the eastern front. I see it as the equivalent to our soldiers taking video of Iraq and Afghanistan and dubbing Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Company over it.

Great video, thanks for sharing. It really showed all the peaceful times these soldiers got to enjoy before they were thrown into hell.

Nor did I for that matter. But if you put yourself in the context of 1941, which probably used the same music then you know...

There is only 1 minute of footage from the campaign at the best. Everything else is training before the campaing. Very interesting footage. I guess it was a scout unit, wasn't it?
