    Default Airsoft M4 recommendations

    Howdy,

I used to follow airsoft back in the day, but that was close to 10 years ago.

What I'm after is an M4 AEG. I'm kind of clueless about what all is out there and what is of good quality. I am also interested in modifying the unit for a bit more FPS, and realism. Im very familiar though with accessories for the real item though.

I recently put down a goodly sum for a TM G17 GBB that I will modify, but I cant find consistent information regarding the M4 family.

Ill be putting this together for Law Enforcement/Tactical EMS training.

    Any Brands, Mods, Resources?

    Thanks.

If you're located in the Los Angeles area, visit the Evike megastore. Everything airsoft you could want, and they have shooting range inside the store so you can try out the guns.

Airsoft GI has a bunch of (sometimes hokey) videos, many dealing with gear reviews. They also sell customized weapons at their store and online.

Umm, Yeah. LA is 2000 miles away, and that's a good thing. I am familiar with various retailers, most notably is Redwolf, but what I need is raw information. I came across a "how to" page on revamping my TM Glock 17 and I was hoping for something similar in regards to an M4.

Any preferable brands? Mods? Anything meaningful?

I dont have any advice on retailers but I can give advice on brands at least some of them - G&P are hit and miss in my experience good externals they look terrific but their internals are just ok. SRC have quality control issues you may get a gun from them and its perfect or you could have nothing but problems.

Personally I run a G&G M4 full metal with a RIS I love it never had any issues with it - if there is one part you need to swap after about 100000 rounds its the piston head which can be subpar but thats a $10 part. Ares and Umarex also make some terrific guns as some of my friends have them. Classic Army is ok too although I have limited experience with them just what comes by word of internet I use a cheaper CA M4 for indoor games where my G&G would be too powerful.

    Hope that helps

If you're in San Diego check out http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/...age=page&id=23.
The joint is run by a former Marine and a pretty cool dude. He set me up with Tokyo Marui which worked well for me.

I recently purchased a Classic Army M15A4 and I really enjoy it. You can get the standard version for about $260, while the R.I.S. version is like $350ish. I advise against going with the R.I.S. version though, pick up one separate - you can get it for about $35 full metal which saves you a lot of money in the long run.

I can recommend you to have ICS m4 or G&P with Rıs modified for Lipo battaries. Most of my friends started to use ICS this year and all of them happy about it. ICS is very solid and easy to increase or decrease FPS without open gearbox. Just you have to buy 2 kind of Upper part which contain just piston, spring parts. You can see all review from internet.

10 years ago... Lots has changed. I wouldn't really worry about any upgrades right out of the gate. Most m4 AEG's, even from the lower end makers, come shooting 350+ fps out of the box. The days of having to open up a brand new TM to swap bushings and springs are over. KWA has a really nice budget friendly m4 right now, with a plastic lower. Good internals. Good luck!

Do all the accessoires for AR15 type weapons actually have any use on airsoft guns, like scopes, aimpoints, stuff like that?

Or is it all fashion, and would iron sights and a flashlight be enough while all the tacticool stuff is mainly just there for show?
