Stingray attacks are landing a worrying number of Sydneysiders in hospital, as the hot weather draws big crowds to play, splash and wade in shallow waters.

On Friday night, three men and one woman arrived in quick succession at St Vincent's Hospital's emergency department, each with a painful, stingray-inflicted wound on their foot...

Might be, but I doubt even Crowley is that hard up for friends that he'd want to hang out with Ballantyne playing piss trough lolly tongue hockey.

Also interesting, there's a video about it made in 1963, which says it's been burning for 10,000 years - not sure how they came to saying that. But I think the Discovery article is the most recent on it.

Yes, XJ220, pretty much as I understand it. I read it is approximately around 350 degrees, while some can burn up to 1000 degrees in temp.

    Cool - thanks.

Checked it out on wiki -

The fire is generally moving in a southerly direction at a rate of about 1 m (3 ft) per year. The combustion has caused soil discolouration and an uneven ground surface in the area.[5]
    Bizarre....

I drove 3 hours south on the weekend, then came back. Not many roos on the road, but plenty in the paddocks. Never seen so many bush chooks (Emus) before. The property we were on was stacked with them.

No problem. Pretty amazing 1 m per year, and over thousands of years. They'll have to start allowing for continental drift when they monitor it, if it keeps going like that!
