Yes this is sure that their history is bad. I think they liked too much our country... Hum,hum sorry.
But now we live often with german people and they are correct (bad word, sorry for my bad english). Sure their allways very few people still follow nazis, but it's a very little minority.

We are together worrying about the "the duty of memories" : Never forget all the dead in death camp and soldiers who free them and us.

US people, when you went to france have you seen the Caen Memorial?

Militarily speaking - which after all is what this site is about - the Germans are about as good as it gets.

There is too much emphasis on WW1 & WW11 where tens of millions of Germans were led by crazed leadership, and in most cases blindly followed their leader.

Today, Germany has a well equipped, well motivated and highly professional Army, Navy and Air Force. They are, or damned well should be respected by their allies in NATO and elsewhere, and their recent performance in the former Youoslavia, and in ISAF Afghanistan has shown the world just how good they are.

There are few other nations worldwide with this level of capability, used for the right reasons - don't knock them.

I'd go with that. Had they joined the allies in GWII, they would have been fascinating to watch. It would have been interesting to watch if there had been a German Brigade ( a new Afrika Korps ? ) fighting alongside the allies. One suspects that given the quality of German engineering and their proverbial thoroughness, they would have had little problems with their kit. I do like Germans, ( excellent lager and wurst, ) and its about time we forgave the present generation the sins of their fathers.

Yeah, cause a majority of those films are imported from Germany. How do I know? My old roommate used to work at one (24 hour video store) back in our college days.

Adding on to what DeltaWhiskey was saying..
The German military is and has always been a huge part of their culture. They are natural warriors, and their culture supports and encourages this. Nowhere in the world is the armed forces so significant in their society than in Germany (spare the Gurkhas in Nepal). And regardless of their past actions a military-oriented board like this one should respect their culture for this reason alone.

    Default Heh.

From what I've seen, this board isn't really about respecting much of anybody for anything.
