Default Defense Budget RISES under sequestration?

    http://www.rollcall.com/news/house_r...-222817-1.html

Say Whaaa? Hold on, the 2013 Authorization Bill that will be voted on (and passed) calls for $2B MORE then the bill authorized in 2012. So, it rises under sequestration? Is there something I am missing here?

    More political BS.

EDIT: Missed the part that states it is $2B over Obama budget. My bad.

Yeah, it's been hashed out a bit in several threads. You're a bit late to the party but....

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin...ing-sequester/

It's good to remind people every now and then what politics is like.

Look at GOOGLE under "Obama +fear mongering +the sky is falling +I want to raise taxes again"

Or search YAHOO with "White House not serious about cutting spending, after raising taxes"

oh, and I found it under:

"Obama has absolutely no intention of working with the GOP for the next two years, despite any words to the contrary."

    and

"Global Warming will accelerate and comets will strike the Earth if Republicans don’t acquiesce to Obama’s demands for more taxes"

    and

"Sequester = Obama + Jack Lew + Wahington Post"

....there, that should do it. Glad to help.

Same here. Forced unpaid day off each week from April to the end of September, no overtime allowed, no credit time allowed, and I'll lose out on 12 hours of annual leave because of the furlough. Gross loss in pay for that time frame is 3800 bucks.

public opinion and the opinion in congress is that the govt employees are overpaid and dont do anything.

which is why we are the first to get cut, and have had zero COLA increases in the last 3? years..

i mean shoot. obama wanted to give us a .5 percent increase starting in march, but then the house took that piece of the pie away.

    what can you do?

It isn't the sequestration that is doing that to you it is the Obama administration's agency directors imposing a political solution to make sure they can claim it was all the republicans fault.

Exactly. There is no line anywhere in the sequestration agreement bill that says 'federal employees will be furloughed for one day out of the week'. Budgets were cut and the White House decided exactly how to implement those cuts. Have you heard of any programs to go in and ferret out waste to keep federal employees working? No? Do you wonder why? Because pissed-off federal employees and their unions screaming at Repubs is precisely what Obama wants.

well the reason why they are furloughing employees is because the agencies have the most flexibility in order to meet those mandatory cuts.

cutting contracts and services would cost too much with all those early termination fees associated with them. So even though your cutting a contract short, you're actually spending more money to get rid of it.

That's just the way the system is setup, mostly everything is done via contract EXCEPT those evil federal employees (sarcasm). Which is also why, alot of the contractors that the agencies use will still work 5 days a week.
