Default Alleged blasphemy: Mob burns 100 Christian homes in Pakistan

Around 100 houses belonging to the Christian community were vandalised and burnt by a mob in Badami Bagh area of Lahore on Saturday over alleged blasphemy committed by a Christian man, reported Express News.

On Friday, a mob of almost 3,000 people forced the Christian community to flee for their lives, leaving behind their houses and possessions unprotected.
The charged group had gathered around Joseph Colony on Noor Road, led by Shafiq Ahmed, who was in search of the accused Savan, alias Bubby. The mob then attacked Savan’s house, setting it on fire and pelting it with stones. Other houses in the locality – home to about 150 Christian families – were also attacked. Many residents, including women and children, hastily fled to save themselves.

Savan has been arrested and shifted to an undisclosed location.

Although fanatics are found in all religions for the most part Christians have left it behind(I say again, for the most part)
In some parts of the world however it seems that Muslims still live in the middle ages

Default Mob in Pakistani city torches Christian homes after accusations of blasphemy

LAHORE, Pakistan — A police officer in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore says hundreds of people attacked a Christian neighborhood and set fire to homes after hearing that a Christian man had committed blasphemy against Islam’s prophet.

Multan Khan said Saturday that the incident started Friday when a young Muslim man accused a Christian man of committing blasphemy, which is a serious criminal offense in Pakistan that can carry the death penalty.

    From the above report

Shahid Imran, complainant in the FIR, told The Express Tribune that Savan would utter blasphemous remarks against the Holy Prophet (pbuh) from time to time. When it happened again on Thursday, he told his friend Shafiq, who took out a knife and went straight to Savan’s house. This visit bore no fruit. Then, on Friday, he incited other men to join him in punishing Savan.

According to Imran, the situation went out of control when people reached the spot after offering prayers under Qari Saifullah. Countless people had joined the mob, chanting slogans and throwing stones at the houses.

Qari Saifullah said that if they find Savan, they must cut him into pieces.
    Seriously ?

Will the Purelandic police take action against these people who openly state their intentions to "cut people into pieces" ?

Both a Zorastrian Iranian guy I know and my Jewish Moroccan boss have told me just how bad it was growing up as a member of a religious minority in a Muslim nation. Intolerance, racism, brutality and institutional and personal discrimination are the norm, with occasional bouts of mob violence, arson and murder. Some of the Muslim clergy actively whip up mobs into a frenzy over real, perceived or outright fraudulent 'insults to Islam' and 'blasphemies' by non-Muslims . The rape of religious minority women by Muslim men is a constant danger, as we have been seeing in India and elsewhere. I do not think we even need discuss Jihadi terrorism.

While the perps are a small minority of Muslim community, there sure seems to be a lot of apologism and denial about it in the Muslim street, or in the case of a lot of Islamists, open approval of such acts and beliefs. There is a widespread attitude of false victimhood; not surprising in a pride-based culture where martyrdom is revered and honor is frequently more important than life itself. One facet of this is a total willingness to instantly accept without question the most asshatted conspiracy theories to explain away anything that might reflect negatively upon Muslims, frequently involving blaming the Jews. There is also a hypersensitivity about any perceived criticism of any aspect of Muslim culture being 'an attack on Islam', since Islam dictates how to structure society, government, law and the rules for living one's life. All of this prevents any real discussion between non-Muslims and Muslims, and for some issues between Muslims themselves over the problems in their society. Western political correctness only exacerbates the problem by further suppressing any frank discussion of the issue and further enabling Muslim dishonesty and self-delusion about their society.

Until these things change, the problems will not only continue, but continue to get worse. That is one thing Muslims elsewhere could learn from the west; the value of self-examination and self-criticism. Sadly, I am pretty confident that they will not be learning to do that anytime soon. 'Westernization'; an exchange of ideas between the West and Muslim society; has been going on since the time of The Prophet, yet most of the same problems remain. There is no sign of an impending reformation in Islam. I am not seeing much reason to be hopeful. All I see is the strong potential for more conflict, violence and bloodshed in the future.

Almost the same thing before during partition of India.

It resulted in a struggle between the newly constituted states of India and Pakistan and displaced up to 12.5 million people with estimates of loss of life varying from several hundred thousand to a million (most estimates of the numbers of people who crossed the boundaries between India and Pakistan in 1947 range between 10 and 12 million). The violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of mutual hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that plagues their relationship to this day.
Pakistan (2005 Est. 162 million vs. 1951 Census 34 million)

    • 98.0% Muslims (159 million)
    • 1.0% Christians (1.62 million)
    • 1.0% Hindus, Sikhs and others (1.62 million)
