Default Modern World Paradox: Noone knows how to make a computer mouse.

A bit thought provoking, I think.

They're similar, they are both conferences of sorts, but I wouldn't call it a direct rip off. Some of the speakers for TED have been featured on Zeitgeist as well.

    From the comments section:
"Barack Obama does not know how to make a pencil."
    "neither does friedman"
"The difference is Obama thinks he knows how to make a pencil".

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say there's some engineering type out there that knows exactly how to make a mouse from scratch. Probably MacGuyver.

Knowing how to make a computer mouse should of course never be a goal in itself. Knowing how to make a pencil neither. But there is of course a truth in his story. Advances in telecommunications infrastructure and decadence have caused intellectual laziness and has increased the gap between us and our environment, the nature. Take a 21st century individual out of his comfort zone and modern environment and the chances he will survive are relatively slim compared to the chances our great-ancestors had.

Alright I was being sarcastic, the guy has a point, do you know how to ...etc etc. etc. I can only do one of the things he mentions. And I'm talking about the pencil guy, and by knowing how to do things I mean I know how to sharpen one. Maybe cut down a tree.

I don't know how to farm vegetables or slaughter animals, either. That's what grocery stores are for.
