Default Proof The Obama Administration Is Going After The Good Guys With Guns

What got us to a time when the mainstream media thinks it’s a non-story that Chicago rated dead last in federal prosecutions of gun crimes while it earned the gruesome distinction of being the murder capital of the U.S.? Why is it that the National Rifle Association (NRA), a civil-liberties group with four-million-plus members, has to call journalists out for not reporting bloody and startling facts?

Last Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the NRA, held up a print out of a study done by Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), a data-gathering and research organization run by Syracuse University, that found that out of 90 federal jurisdictions, in 2012 Chicago ranked last for prosecuting bad guys with guns. LaPierre asked, “Do you know where Chicago ranks in terms of enforcement of the federal gun laws? Out of 90 jurisdictions in the country, they ranked 90th. Why doesn’t NBC News start with, ‘Shocking news on Chicago. Of all the jurisdictions in the country, Chicago’s dead last on enforcement of the federal gun laws?’ Why doesn’t the national press corps, when they’re sitting down there with Jay Carney and the president and the vice president, why don’t they say, ‘Why is Chicago dead last in enforcement of the gun laws against gangs with guns, felons with guns, drug dealers with guns?’”

The article also includes some interesting numbers about the number of failed background checks vs. prosecutions by the DOJ.

Dead last? My God, that really is incredible, given the carnage from illegal guns in that city. Far easier to simply disarm the sheep and leave the wolves alone.

You do realize the anti-gun legislation has nothing to do with the bad guys and their guns.........

    This is your attorney general...........

Attorney General Eric Holder was 'armed' when he took part in protest at Columbia and occupied a school office for five days

You're preaching to the choir. I'm also well aware of the fact that, in a WH meeting between the NRA, Biden, and Holder, the NRA pointed out the same statistics to Holder, who responded "We have neither the personnel nor the resources to pursue every single one of these cases."

    Seems bass ackwards to me...

Thanks for the article. We should have already realized this. Those that did probably were old school wierdos who enjoy firearms or harming kids, most likely some 1800's Rethuglicans that were out of touch with reality. There's a reason why we need common sense measures and common sense laws - for the kids.

Shouldn't come as a surprise that some laws are enforced and others are ignored. Sadly, I think Paul Clement mentioned this most recently in an off topic other argument but its been quite apparent for some time.

Yeah they said they weren't coming for the guns. They also said taxes wouldn't go up. They also said insurance premiums wouldn't go up. Etc etc. /off topic rant.

    Fools.

Considering how Barry has pandered to their vanity and built that up, half of them think they could teach Einstein and Ghandi a few things. That's the truely scarey thing. That and their predelection to violence. (Ironic that considering how bad they want gun control.)

I've said it a million times, this gun culture issue is strictly about culture control. This all about passing laws that limits the rights of law abiding citizens in order to slowly change the way we view the 2nd Amendment. They will start with the AR and once the crime stats don't change or some new event happens with a semi-auto pistol, they will move to ban that as well. The only thing was that they thought it was a slam dunk after the Newtown shooting to get a bunch of BS laws passed in a hurry, but they found out real quick that law abiding citizens were not trying to hear that BS because we all knew that it was a lack security at the school and responsibility by the mother, that led to Newtown.

Don't buy any of the BS because they don't care about the street crime because they know it would demand a full deployment of the National Guard and LE to lock down those neighborhoods and occupy them. They let the gangs and drug dealers get way out of control and the violence has been so bad that it still shocks me that we have not treated these gangs as either terrorists or at a clear and present danger given their penchant for violence and their link to foreign organizations sending drugs to the country.

The future looks scary. DARPA drones, teaching the public obedience through slow and gradual losses of civil liberties.. And a new NSA base opening now that can log every email, forum post, phone call.
Looks like Alex Jones and the ilk might be on to something, seems like the powers that be are reading 1984 as a manual rather than a book.

Agreed, but the larger question is why? Clearly the attempts to ban weapons, magazines etc. are not about crime control. What does the left have to gain by gutting the Second Amendment?

Not about "gaining", only about "progressing". The gun control movement is not about public safety or "sensible" gun laws. They are completely about limiting or outright banning firearms or having them in the most restrictive way. They view countries in Europe as the way to go with respect to firearms. They are perfectly fine with getting anything passed that is restrictive because they see this as a marathon not a sprint. They use celebrities because they know it will influence the young and that is where the battle truly lies, with the youth. Conservatism is going to die because of technology and social media if we don't get our act together. Liberals in this country have pushed their agenda in schools, media, and through entertainment, which are all powerful in influencing young people.

The Newtown shooting was a BLATANT security failure, not a "guns gone wild" moment. When you have someone (whether it be a thug, crazed individual, or a terrorist) come up to a school armed with multiple weapons, blasts his way in, and kill 6 adults and 20 kids without a single shot being fired in the victim's defense, we have a MAJOR problem. It is disturbing for the president and democrats to turn this into an issue about banning guns and not about security. Think of the headlines if this were a muslim terror attack? Do you think banning rifles would have came up? Hell no, it would have been security at our schools. Since the shooter was a white boy with "mental issues" (not too mental if he planned everything) it got turned into banning guns and magazines.

You just gotta see through the BS, bro. The agenda is quite clear.

When the arab spring turned violent one of the analysts (a mexican) of TeleSur said vilolence is the exclusive prerrogative of the state. Leftists used to be the odd guys in school and college, always dreaming on the day to get payback on the normies. They have a "passive" predelection to violence and having an armed population prevents them from reching their dreams of becomming top dogs.

What worries me the most is the non-stop reporting in the media that schools in the USA are free-to-kill zones and no one seems to realize the wrongness of it. If people fail to take actions to protect the children ASAP I fear we will see a real school catastropy-spree in the near future.

Actually less complicated than that Inspector Clusoe, its all about H. G. Wells's The Shape of Things to Come. I am not kidding, this is really their bible.
