Default US Army vet charged with fighting with al-Qaida

By MATTHEW BARAKAT | Associated Press – 51 mins ago

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A U.S. Army veteran was charged Thursday with joining up with an al-Qaida group to fight against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Eric Harroun, 30, of Phoenix was charged in U.S. District Court in Alexandria with conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction — specifically, a rocket propelled grenade launcher — outside the U.S.

We're dealing with a new weapon here; a WMDRPG.

Let's not forget that the US just but up a $5 million bounty on two other Jihadi Americans.

He didn't conspire, he admitted he did fire the damn thing! Second, an RPG as a WMD? Technically yes on the W and the D, but not on the M. Legislation must have taken some seriously broad interpretation or someone has been juking our laws.

Why even bother with this guy? He's not fighting our interests or Americans, so it would seem. Is he attacking us or our allies? If so then I missed that.

It seems like the weirdos come out of the woodwork for stuff like this. There were a bunch of non-muslim white boys, with no prior military experience, who went to "help out" in Libya... I remember one particularly who posted a **** ton of videos of his glorious escapades on youtube.

Although the common usage of the term "Weapon of Mass Destruction" is nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, American criminal law defines a Weapon of Mass Destruction as any explosive weapon with a charge greater than four ounces.

It happens in every war fought by loosely organized forces that need all the help they can get. There were hundreds, maybe thousands of foreign volunteers who fought in the Balkans in the 1990s for all sides.

If an RPG is a WMD, then Bush was right after all. Saddam did have WMD's. We can now finally close that chapter.

With using an explosive weapon (firing an RPG) in support of a US State Department-designated terrorist organization (Al-Nusrah Front).

I heard the guy recently responded to reports of his death with "No, I'm in living in Istanbul, I'm drinking a martini at the moment".
