Default photos from my dads collection.

Was over at my parents place tonight. My old man collects a lot of military stuff and has recently brought some out of storage. I took the opportunity to photograph about 2% of it, including some stuff with family history.

    My grandfathers medals

    My brothers

A souvenier my bro brought back from iraq

Something sent by my great grandfather from egypt in 1916.

    It reads

    "souvenir of egypt
    Australian commonwealth military forces
    1916
    To Hilda May
    From William"

    Miscellaneous stuff

Open them with windows photo viewer and rotate them with arrows, it will save the final result.

Hes got a lot more stuff in storage..flags, knives, bayonets, badges etc

He gave me the whole 'you know when I die this is yours and your brothers - is there anything you want' talk.. Kinda awkward, although i did ask for his old winchester 1894 with the octagonal barrel and short magazine...Ive wanted that since i was a youngster

yup..my grandfather was there..you can see he has a medal from the siege. He was wounded in the shoulder there at one point, and was treated under the old fig tree.

Great pics and an incredible slice of Australian war history in the CTR family...the propaganda flyer is amazing.

I never knew the Aussies were in Syria - or that the Australians fought the Vichy French - the more you know! http://www.awm.gov.au/units/event_295.asp

Back in the days when there was no standardize size for postal cards?
