Russian forces were attacked by soldiers from a foreign country, any nation would respond given that situation.

Vorph is right, Georgia fired on Russian peacekeepers, and also initiated hostilities in that conflict, Russia was well within their rights to respond.

Also, Cuba didn't invade Grenada, and the other conflicts you mentioned were very different.

yes, but im just giving examples.... you never know what can happen is what im trying to say... proxy wars are being fought more often then before and seem to be the "new" type of warfare, no more large scale conflicts.

[*******#010000]Russia has strengthened its naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea for a possible evacuation of Russian nationals from Syria, Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Ivanov said Thursday.

[*******#010000]Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said earlier on Thursday that the country’s increased presence in the Mediterranean is “a legitimate, natural and predictable reaction to the situation developing” in the region. However, he stressed that Russia’s naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea does should not be interpreted as an indication that the country plans to take an active role in any regional conflict.

No they didn't overthrow Maurice Bishop or his New Jewel movement. Bishop was machinegunned by his own people during a falling out of central committee members , but the Cubans were already there working on the airport

Russia will not risk nuclear war over Bashir Assad. I think most of us can agree on that.

    Iran on the other hand...

Way to go, Grumpy McCloud-shouter. How could double-dog-daring Putin go wrong?

United States IS THE MOST powerful nation in the world.

Having said that there can be serious consequences from unnecessary engagements.
