Well, all of us who have earned the patches know or *should* know. An airsofter wearing a 2nd Bat patch is not nearly the same thing as a Ranger who is wearing the 2nd Bat patch. Nor would anyone else respect the airsofter like the real soldier. The patches don't make the man. Imitation is the biggest form of flattery.
Now I myself don't wear anything I haven't earned. But I don't hold anyone else to that standard. If you do wear those patches, at least realize it can offend some people.
Dude, the scroll means more than the tab! Any joe blow who can put up with 2 months of patrolling can get a tab, it takes a f*** Ranger to get a scroll. Until you've gone through all the traning (or shall I say hazing) to earn that scroll you will have no idea what it means. Sorry.
i play with a guy who was 3/75 in 93.... went to mog AFTER the battle...and is in Iraq as a PMC now... I asked him if it bothered him and he said no. If someone who was a ranger comes to my field and asks me to remove it i will.
i agree the Tab is a school, and the Scroll a way of life. It was a way of life i dedicated myself to since i was 11... and i had my dream stamped out in one instant under the 250 tower. Now, i go out a few hours per month and PRETEND ...yes, i admit my wannabe status.... I am what i'm not. Did you cry foul when Nick Cage wore class As with tab and scroll in Con Air? no.. he was playing a role... and thats what we airsofters do... we play a role.
