Cuurently reading Yangtze Patrol by Kemp Tolley, USN. Great book about China gunboats (told from USN perspective, but Brits were mates and actions often coordinated). Great commentary on the party scene as well.

Not as in-depth as RSR and somewhat more idealistic and fantasy (not in the traditional sense) but a fairly good read. It's also more oriented towrds the air force buff.Four Japanese nationalists storm Tokyo's imperial palace and behead the emperor. Their goal: to invade Russia and conquer oil-rich Siberia in order to dominate the globe. Soon the world explodes in war, as Japan, Russia and the United States go head-to-head in a struggle that threatens total destruction. Now three men from three different nations must meet their ultimate challenge: to fight as patriots in a war driven by greed and madness-and save the planet from nothing less than a full-scale nuclear attack.

I'm reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Very good book so far.
Was going to pick it up at a shop in Freiburg, but it was way too much German for me to understandOriginally Posted by CQB_Operator

Tell me how you like "The Code of the Warrior" when you finish.Originally Posted by walford
It is very readable -- and full of real-life examples to make it vivid. It even looks at the Iliad from a warrior's perspective. The author is a prof at the USNA [my prof for this class is a graduate].Originally Posted by Dennis G
There was one example wherein a Marine private was really frustrated and was threatening a civilian in order to get info. A Sergeant stopped the whole thing by merely saying, "Marines don't do that."
