Yeah but you love it really - When you're the RSM those little scamps will be your three stripes tearing sh1t and hell out of new recruits and you'll all wonder where the hell all those years flashed by to.
There are times that I wouldn't mind doing that. If I moved back to Japan, there's a good chance I'd end up doing that, with occasional English teaching gigs for extra Yen.
I can 100% say that it is damn hard work at times, and a whole heap of fun at others and rewarding all the time. Being able to read my little one like a book and be there for all the precious moments is priceless.
Speed, there are a couple of smoke eaters here abouts, but no FDNY folks, that I know of...

1 Dec 2011 - ~ 1 July 2012 = Training to be a pro soldier in the Royal Guards
~ 1 july - 1 January 2013 = Afghanistan
