As far as the snipers, they are an odd subject in airsoft. They're almost useless as an actual shooter. The max FPS limit for 'snipers' where I play is 500 FPS with a .25g BB (2.89 joules I believe) and there is a 100 foot minimum engagement distance. Someone that fine tunes their rifle can probably get it to fire accurate groupings out to around 300 feet/92 meters. Fine tuning rifles to this point can be really expensive and I've heard of people sinking $800-$1000 into upgrades. For a Barrett, it's even dumber because the only Barrett replica that's worth upgrading is already around $1200 USD. Despite this, people still think that it's totally badass to say that they're a sniper and run around with a bolt action SWS or something super heavy like an M107. I know kids that have taken out snipers with MP5s because the FPS limits and even the size limits of fields make snipers almost useless in the traditional sense of the term. When an MP5 and an M24 have the same max range it's clear that the kid spraying the contents of his MP5 magazine at the dude using a bolt action rifle will win.
