Henry, i must admit im not a fan of shotguns. I have had shotguns for the last 10 years, but probably from a lazyness factor when i go to our family farm. Take one gun to kill most things at short range.

It seems to kick more than the old baikal i used to have but certainly shoots well. I took it for a shoot a while back and experimented with the choke. I particularly like that feature. The bolt feeds and ejects well, although as one would expect, it is a rather large bolt. But hey, im happy with my $100 shotgun.

I love my shotguns, 100% Remington 1100/870 fiend.

Yea the twisting accu choke is sort of cool, if not, at least it has that retro look. I have one on my great uncles browning 12 ga. that works somewhat. Todays choke tubes are by far a better design.

For $100 you cant go wrong.

Got to kick that lazyness factor, it will get you into some bad shooting habits.

Unfortunately we cant have any pump action shotguns or semi autos, thus my hesitation in carrying something that only holds a two rounds at best (bolt action = 3). I found the chokes to work ok but then again i typically use 3/4 to full choke anyway.

The lazyness isnt so much to do with bad shooting habits, but simply to get quick shots in and ensure that what i hit dies (i.e. the odd wild dog or cat) at short range. Our place is hilly, and if you see them you would shoot 50m in the creek at best.

When i have more time or am specifically going after something rather than carrying a gun with me while working i take one of the rifles, but you are correct in that what i have been doing will lead to bad habits in the long run.

    Blasphemy!!!!

Thats like having a girlfriend or wife and not hitting skins.

Im gonna cry, why does everyone who wants a python and gets one, never wants to ever shoot it. While everyone i know, myself included, who would sell their first born for one, wants to shoot the holy heck out of it.

You poor blokes. Such restrictions on shotguns is insane. No wonder half of Marin county(next to San Francisco) is full of F.O.B. expats from your part of the world. A whole 1/4 of my customer base has that funny accent. With crazy laws like that, i could see why the crazy laws of Commiefornia would seem like a step up.

I understand where you are coming from. On my familys vineyard we used 410's and .22 CB rounds for pest control. Only because the vineyard was in a somewhat residential area.

Yea, i find out after farting around on the farm playing redneck-sixpack-shotgun-toting-hillbilly for a weekend or so, as soon as i get back to the range for some serious shooting all my bad habbits are back on top. That said, playing hillbilly is fun like nothing else.

Your Ruger in .223 also has me drooling. Would have liked something better than a Mini-14 to take out the big varmits that were further out, but ya work with what ya got.

Our farm is 1500 acres but hilly, so the long range stuff is only good when you are really high and can shoot across the valleys or on the cultivation. I really like the ruger, it shoots straight and only cost me $800 with a few hundred rounds of ammo. Which by our standards was cheap. FYI a 3-9x40 Tasco world class costs over $100 here whereas you guys get them for around $50, but with all that im happy.

Nice chunk of land. I bet its beautiful too?

Well then, next time you are looking for some new glass you might want to give one of us yanks a quick PM to see what might be able. I too used to be a Tasco champ, until i fell in love with Leupold. Leupolds are the right combination of high quality and resonable price in a world where almost everything is way overpriced(especially in the firearm world).

    Thanks everybody!
I have fired many rounds from a PYTHON a friend owns and really like it's accuracy, but I don't plan on shooting this one.
