    Thanks, Laconian and Uncle Hollis!

That's good to know, Punch! Especially if she's got her own guns. I wish my wife were that way.

Spaz and BJ: Sauvie Island is the sh!t! My dad used to take me pigeon/dove (I can't remember which) hunting there when I was a kid. In fact, I took my wife, kids, and wife's friend and her kids there on Tuesday, to soak up the sun and cool off in the Columbia River. The only gun I took was my concealed Glock 30, and I didn't get any SEXY TIME with it.
Judging by the pictures that appears to be the same area my friend Aaron drowned in August 2007, the water further out is sneaky.

Is there any good quail there?

Don't know about quail. When I used to hunt them, it was in the Coburg Hills near Marcola, NE of Eugene.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It seems like every summer, there are a few drownings in Oregon. Most of the victims tend to be either inexperienced swimmers, overconfident, intoxicated, or just unlucky.

I hunted quail once, Great bird, but they are so tiny, I had to kill a bunch to make a meal, felt like a genocidal maniac. The ones around my house are bigger, but still, they ar not a big bird.

If I was going to wipe a species, it would be brown ground squirrels.

Yeah, he was really drunk, shouldn't have been anywhere near that water but that's life I guess.

Last night I saw about 12 along a road around 10 acres of christmas trees, too bad it's out of season or they would have been made into grub

As for brown squirrels, I'm inclined to agree with you. You wouldn't happen to know if they are good eating would you?

My Weatherby was $380, very good shotgun, I love it. Is that a 870?

    Nothing wrong with a 500A.

Here's mine, originally cost me $75.

I have an 870 that looks almost exactly like that, shorty, surefire, side saddle, the whole deal, just no speedfeed stock.

870's are great, got two of 'em, the home defense "bettsy" and a bird gun.

I went to a gunshow in Portland today. No guns, but walked out with a few goodies: British No. 1 Enfield bayonet, M7 bayonet and 70s/80s era anglehead flashlight for my Vietnam collection (I'll eventually put them on a mannequin torso), Romanian AK forestock, AK sling, Wood FAL stock, 2 Austrian-made FAL magazines, and a box of .30-30 ammo. Nice haul, if I may say so.
