I just put one on each extremity JIC every time I go to the range.
Well with the way you shoot - hanging upside down from monkey bars and what not, I wouldn't be surprised if you shot yourself.

Have you not seen the picts i posted of yore? A tourniquet will do **** all after a 5.56 goes thru your leg... think, amputation at worst or not being able to walk properly for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately yesas you probably know we are not allowed semi auto in centrefire calibres in the U.K., but she's still fun to shoot and it's better than no AR at all.
The rifle is 99% complete, only missing a gas tube and a gas port in the barrel.
For shorter ranges like around 25m to 50m I have a Spikes .22LR drop in kit that I use, and that runs in semi auto as we are allowed .22LR in semi auto. These kits are an absolute blast once you've tuned them to run right.
As my AR is a straight pull and I've only got the standard T charging handle, I'm thinking of one of those BCM Vltor Gunfighter charging handles that take all of the pressure off the charging handle catch pin. They seem to be a lot tougher and have good reviews.

There are very few L85's in civilian hands pretty much anywhere. There are believed to be a very small number (certainly double digits) of straight pull L98's (cadet version of the L85A1) in the U.K., these were exported to Canada originally as the M.O.D. won't sell surplus weapons to the U.K. civilian market, and then small numbers were imported back in. There are also some L86A1 straight pulls (the LSW variant), however these as far as I know exist only in single digits.
I heard a rumour of around 12 pre-dealer sample L85A1's being in the U.S., though how much truth there is in that, I don't know. There was a company called Prexis who were going to start making up a semi auto clone for the U.S. market, but nothing came of it.
My L85A2 is a range queen so never really gets dirty, my regular service was 10 years ago and my job now is simply as an armed sentry. However the A2 is a completely different beast to the A1 that I was issued with in 1997, far more reliable.

Wow, I think some of you missed the point. Tourniquet is a smart medical application to have with you kit, not an argument there. Was just pointing out that on a rifle it doesn't seem like it would have much practical benefit for you, just more bulk, another thing to worry about tacked onto it. Otherwise I think it's great that you come prepared, you never know. Sorry for the flame-war.
Finished the Arsenal build. MI extended AK rail, Leupold Deltapoint reflex, AFG, Tactical Stitches sling, Vltor E-Mod and adaptor tube, hogue grip and a Surefire E2DLED. Oh, at a Master Arms enhanced AK safety.
Very, very nice.
